Forth

As its name implies, this is the "room" studio album from The Verve, which was located quickly among top ranking British. And we understand why.

On 18 August this year appeared in the troughs a new album from The Verve. The band consists of Richard Ashcroft, Simon Jones, Nick McCabe and Peter Salisbury, who in the middle of the last decade immortalized with his legendary "Bettersweet Symphony" (the item that had to assign the rights to The Rolling Stones to contain the line The Last Time orchestral) [1] . They used the year of reunions for their return but doubled the ante with new studio material, "Forth".

The album also went on to echo within the island, and just days managed to be the biggest seller (company difficult to obtain after 8 years in the distance). And they did it with ten songs that show a remarkable evolution. Consolidated insurance, with new ideas and reminiscences of his old stage, with pleasant melodies and choruses that merit listening. Besides a fine job setting.

Since the beginning of the album with two candidates attack Hitt, such as "Sit and Wonder" and "Love is the Noise". The first score shows the evolution of these artists and offers a rock ballad with an atmosphere that borders between the cryptic and introspective. Treated with different voices Ashcroft, as required by the scene of the subject and a guitar accompaniment discreet but effective. On the other side "Love is the Noise" (the first single this board) is - perhaps - the dance themes of the story of The Verve. With a riff ochentoso branded by the flood of British bands of the time. Always combined with psychedelic facets of a particular quality.

In "Judas" stand by and inviting atmosphere leak lethargic feelings, while exposing an old memory and old hobbies to seek answers where hard to find. To finally remind us that the dream has just begun.

The next item maintain cruising speed, and with a wink (melodic and lyrical) to Pink Floyd, are beginning to "Numbness". A great job to highlight is the guitar harmonies, arrangements and solos included in these six and a half minutes.

"See Houses" could well be an unreleased solo career Ashcroft where, again, shines its poetic qualities to confess a concern: "I have the feeling of having been here before / I spend many lives / How many tears I try before my freedom. "

The Verve returned to the scene with the intention of adding and qualities to do so. Little noticed the duration sought by the media, because no matter decline in four minutes. With either style present throughout the album.

That's why The Verve achieved through his European tour to convince more critical every day, pundits and listeners. Because they still have things to say and keep the spirit of a great band of Brit-Pop.
