Simply urging the need to return the kindness to one of the most admirable and symbolic icons of Rock and Roll. However, the time we knew acknowledge, the good faithful.

It is common knowledge that Stephen Stills (Buffalo Springfield and former CSN) have recovered some tapes where recording outspread wings of both guitar players. Which has already been officially announced by one of the archivist and co-producer of the album John McDermott. Although not anticipated dates or promises, the material is already one of the great expectations of the music industry.

He was born under the name of John Allen Hendrix in Seattle (11/17/42). Son of Al Hendrix and Lucille (African-American father and mother with Aboriginal descent). They were a poor family who managed as he could until they divorced when Jimi was 9 years old. His father and his brother enlisted in the National Army to fight in World War II, while Lucille took care of him for a while. But as the economic situation was very unstable, it decided to leave by her paternal grandmother (Nora Rose Moore), who nursed him until his father returned from the war. There he was renamed James Marshall Hendrix (in honor of his deceased brother).

His first encounter with the music had a string ukulele that his father gave him (many of the first "blueseros" South had recognized a similar instrument in the beginning). Later at age 15 gave him a Supro Ozark 1560s with Jimi begin to learn local Bluesman looking at and listening to the records of his father, who then played trumpet in jazz bands anonymous.

When he came of age, Jimi joining the "101st Airborne Division" of Paracaidismos Army - otherwise had to meet a few months in prison for repeated problems with the law. Although he soon abandoned it for an injury suffered while running a bad jump. But it served to bring a musical connection with Billi Cox, who form King Casuals. With this band of Rythim and Blues moved to Tennessee and then to Nashville, forming part of the underground circuit. There he met his girlfriend Lithofayne "Fayne" Pridgeon, who was her companion in much of his life.

Both spent much time wandering from village to village, next to the Isley Brothers' Band, also with Little Richard and Sam Cooke, Ike & Tina Turner (but always in the background). Until settled in New York, where the music scene was different. Had broken the Beat generation of poets, folk music, a young man named Robert Allen Zimmerman to havoc in the city with its profound lyrics and nasal voice (everyone knew him as Bob Dylan).

This singer Jimi would influence greatly: in it she found she could be a singer without many qualities, impressed with his songs about the current situation and their stories. Knew that it could be the star he wanted and be in front of a rock band. This is called Jimi James & The Blue Flames, with whom he played for a long time in the city, without arousing the attention of the public who disapproved of Hendrix's playing, his lush staging and did not understand the power of your music.

Fortunately, Jimi had the chance to meet Linda Keith (Keith Richard's girlfriend) who would have a momentous impact on the guitarist's career. She insisted Hendirx talent: first Oldham (then producer of RS) and then with Chas Chandler.

Are you Experienced?

The ex-Animals witnessed one of his concerts minimalist and proposed travel to London to face a new project. With little to lose, Hendrix accepted the deal and Chandler became his manager. Then the September 21, 1966 both landed in London, where he joined Noel Redding (bass) and Mitch Mtichell (drums) with the name The Jimi Hendrix Experience.

This training would change the course of rock, in many ways. He taught a new way to play the guitar, to fuse rock and blues, the staging (with The Kinks and The Who), revolutionized and influenced millions of artists around the world.

In London, the band had a remarkable acceptance among the best examples of British rock. From Rolling Stones (including Brian Jones), guitarist of The Who, Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck to Paul McCartney. Within months, The Jimi Experience Hendirx had gained an audience that reveled in the power of his sound, as he toured the country with Cat Stevens and Engelbert Humperdick Walter Brothers.

The trio's first single was "Hey Joe" (with Stone Free on Side B). The first is a cover of Billy Roberts (an old Southern California composer). The theme was suggested by Chandler, to find a relationship of art. However, Jimi focused on achieving their own version (designing around 6 or 7 different interpretations). The other is an original composition, where Hendrix expressed their desire for freedom, and accuses those who watched with suspicious eyes the beginning of the new generation. Basically: it was a success.

They soon released their second EP, "Purple Haze" (3 rd in the ranking) inspired by a story by Phillip Farmer. Almost simultaneously, edited Are You Experienced? The first LP that included 17 tracks. Among those who would highlight the issues mentioned above, an incredible blues "Red House", the devastating "Can You See Me" or "Fire". The whole album owns a hitherto unknown force and rarely surpassed in the coming years. With powerful riff, an admirable production job Stereo (mode in which Hendrix revolutionized some techniques): Also in the use of guitar effects or the application of sustained tones or fittings that obtained in the face of his guitar amplifiers (a constant in his live performances).

For many this is the most sacred of the guitar player and served as one of the best expressions of the genre. Although overshadowed by the magnanimous creation of The Beatles: Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (another indispensable Rock was launched in 1967).

The Return of a King

While James had left with little popularity in the atmosphere now became devoted. At the top of the British Charts, acclaimed and recommended by the press and the other musicians on the circuit. However, Jimi (with suggested changing the name Chandler) came as a more of "British Invasion". And all came to the delight of some 200,000 people were expected to make the first big event Hippie, the Monterey Pop Festival. Hendrix got a place in the concert by the Beatles, Paul McCartney (although Liverpool were not in the show).

Here Jimi would be released as the star which was in a mini-concert of four subjects from which included a cover of The Troggs (a band of southern England) called "Wild Thing". As its name implies, was the wildest thing that viewers saw that concert. Jimi Hendrix A sweeping, brimming with talent, bursting into flames like his guitar. He used all his tricks to win once and for all the people of his country.

Such was the euphoria aroused, that own The Mamma's & The Pappa's had to wait fifteen minutes for people to calm down before taking the stage.

That same year, The Jimi Hendrix Experience released their second album, Axis: Bold as Love, in which progress is seen in experimental music and sound. Expanding their repertoire with fusions with funk, jazz and R & B. While the disc material served to increase the consuming public of their live performances did not have that feeling of satisfaction for the artist and producer Eddie Kramer. It was because all the Side A of the disk had to be mastered in one night, because Hendrix had forgotten the original in the seat of a taxi. And their demands were not performed for the artwork. However, stand out tracks like "Spanish Castle Magic", "Little Wind" or "If 6 was 9" are among the best works of the guitarist.

Jimi would later involved in some trouble with the law for possession of narcotics. And the tour could not be completed as needed.
In 1968 the history of the guitar, blues and rock would have a peak day. The event was named "The Kings' Jam" (the Jam of the Kings), for - nothing more and nothing less - than the very Blues Boy King and Jimi Hendrix (with Paul Butterfly Blues Band, Al Kooper and Elvin Bishop) is submitted on April 9 at the club Generation. The album was released on Klondyke Records and contains pieces that few musicians dare to academic research.

Changing Times

Back in Britain Hendrix had close encounters with musicians The Who and Pink Floyd, with whom he shared some scenarios and tours. Also contacted other hallucinogenic drugs that would mark the timid conduct of it: LSD and - to a lesser extent - heroin. Abuse with these and the continuity of their presentations led to a depletion remarkable guitarist, even some of their presentations.

Then submerge again in studies to prepare, what would be his third album, known under the name of Electric Ladyland. This process is separated from his mentor Chas Chandler, after repeated tradeoffs in the design of themes, its duration and also financial conflicts. From there, Jimi took command of the recordings, recharging of versions, re-releases, jam sessions, musicians and repeated takes for a material that suits your needs.

This wave of labor exhausted his crew (especially Redding, who was dissatisfied with his role as bassist) and counted with the collaboration of musicians like Al Kooper, Buddy Miles, Jack Casady, Steve Winwood and Chris Wood.

The result was a double album that was faced by many controvercias artwork that included Jimi Hendrix surrounded by nearly naked women, so some stores refused to sell it. This did not help the distribution and sale of the material.

Hendrix's career came in rough terrain, as well as their behavior. Finally in mid-1969, The Jimi Hendirx Experince dissolves. Going through a transition phase and thus was formed a new band formed with an old army buddy Billy Cox (bass), kept Mitchell on drums, Larry Lee (rhythm guitar), Jerry Velez and Juma Sultan on percussion .) Dubbed Gypsy Sun & Rainbows, this training was to delight the spectators who had stayed to see the end of the massive Woodstock concert that year.

Here Hendrix would play a version of the national anthem, "The Star-Spangled Banner", including the introduction of a bombing sounds made with the guitar (something like the beginning of Axis: Bold As Love, which emulates the sounds of cars and ambulances .) His show was a real art exhibition. With alternative versions of his classic themes of JHE, with some of the longest jamming. After that the band broke up ...

It would be time for Band Of Gypzys with Billy Cox and Buddy Miles on drums, Hendrix's stage that many questioned or desmerecieron as one of his worst works. Although the album contains great songs like magine Gun, Message to Love or Changes. With only five trakcs (two of three of Miles and Hendrix) the album was recorded live in a presentation at the Filmore East in New York. Also you can get a two-CD edition of Live at the Filmore called East, where items are priced as Hey Joe, Wild Thing, Foxy Lady, among others. But Hendrix was not very satisfied with the Funk style of its drummer, and decided to finish with the group.

The Birth of a Legend

Then set about creating his own recording studio (of which would rescue many of his recordings that were used for posthumous albums). There in Electric Ladyland Studios, Hendrix worked with Eddie Kramer and John Jansen in production, and Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox under the name The New Jimi Hendrix Experience. During the recording of "Flirts rays of new rising sun", the band decided to participate in some festivals Hendrix United States and then move to the UK (where he tried to seduce her former producer Chas Chandler to return to work together and also met Jim Morrison). That album would be released in 1997.

The band undertook a European tour that took them to play the festival in the Isle of Wight (perhaps the last great performance by Jimi). After that came some shows where Hendrix showed overwhelmed with so many shows and damaged by drug abuse (getting to leave the stage after the second issue).

The September 18, 1970 ("The saddest day of your life, but did not have life" - as Rolling Stone hit) James Marshall Hendrix was found dead in his room at the Hotel Samarkand by girlfriend Monika Dannemann. She informed the police but the fact of not being held there by the time officers arrived. According to the forensic autopsy, Jimi Hendrix died choking on his own vomit, caused by the ingestion of hallucinogens (including LSD and was named to heroin). However, many questions wrapped his death and it was even accused the CIA of cargase the three "J" (Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison).

The only fact is that that morning the world said goodbye to one of its greatest exponents of the last century. A magnanimous guitarist and composer who took just four years of his life, forever immortalized.

By Dei Pier.
